I am 100% for the Healthy Workplace Bill. There is no law today to protect employees from bullying. How many people are going to die before, a law is passed to protect us? How many of us have to suffer everyday on the job? In the link http://youtu.be/z6IJKHz3rzs, several family members, and friends lost a love one because of workplace bullying. Nothing was done to help protect these people from being bullied on a daily basis. The Healthy Workplace Bill is only active in 21 states in the United States. We need more states to participate in this campaign. According to healthyworkplacebill.org, “There are many ways that you can contribute to the Healthy Workplace Campaign, from a simple letter to the editor to becoming a State Coordinator, everything helps.”
I have never heard of this bill until, I researched this campaign. Companies should be held accountable for bullying in the workplace. I was bullied everyday at my job because; my boss felt she had the right. I was very depressed, and hated working with boss. My fellow co-worker wrote a letter to our corporate headquarters to make them aware of this situation. Our Corporate headquarters ignore the issue because; they wanted more people to complain about my boss. My boss was given this power from the Store Director. They both protected each other from corporate finding out about these issues.
According to manhealthyworkplace.com, “Over the next seven months, I became the target of both the Sales Department supervisors AND my team lead, who all ignored my requests for assistance.” “I requested a meeting with them to address my concerns. They wrote me up for several reasons, none of which were valid claims.” I have experienced the same as this person in my department. I was written up several times for someone else’s mistakes. Example: I would never forget this incident, I had just found out my grandfather died. A customer had given a salesperson too much money for a sale, and the sales person took the money for himself. I was blamed for this situation, and bullied by both the Store Director, and my boss. The whole building knew about this incident. My boss later found out that this sales person was a liar, and it hurt that she believed him over me. I came to work everyday, worked on my day off, and I helped work overtime for her. Bullying in general need to be stopped with a law.
